Musings from Maddy……

Well………..yesterday has to take the biscuit! I thought the humans had ‘lost it’ crawling around in The Dark rounding the chickens up – but when one of them hits on the Bright Idea of moving the hen house AND the run……………I thought, ‘I’ve got to see this!’

I wouldn’t mind, but one of the humans had just dug up a gooseberry bush and the rhubarb, and swapped them into eachother’s holes……..(I ask you??!)

So there they are moving the run and coop whilst the delinquent chickens run amok round the garden………..then they realise (of course, I had been watching this for some  time now….) that Pepper, the naughtiest hen of The Lot, had not only dug the gooseberry bush back up (chunnering something about ‘I’m-sure-there’s-a-big-fat-worm-under-here-somewere’) but she’d tossed it out of the garden and on to the path – soil everywhere…..oh oh – time to hide I think!!

All turned out ok, of course. Pepper was duly ‘told off’ but then (to my eyes anyway) rewarded with a pile of  maggots!!

Now where’s the logic in that???

(Keep ’em all together in one place – says a human………….’dream on’, says I!)

Maddy watches in horror as The Gooseberry bush goes flying....

In the garden…..

Here's our tame Robin!

Meet Robbie!
He (or she!) has been with us from a baby and he follows us (and the hens) round the garden.  He comes when you whistle and loves nothing more than to share the hen’s maggots! (Yuk!)
In case you’re wondering – Maddy can’t be bothered with birds and sleeps on the back of an armchair side by side with the budgie, Sid (he’s in a large cage). Sid likes nothing more than to chatter on to her about the latest films he’s seen! (He loves James Bond and even more, he LOVES the Dyson! Sings along with that til he’s hoarse!)

Maddy says……

Catching chickens in 'The Dark'

Hey, want a laugh??? Guess what I caught the humans doing the other night?

Rounding up chickens in The Dark! One drop of sunshine and I heard one human say ‘they’ll not go to bed tonight, you watch’.

And she was right!! 7.30 pm and there they were, crawling around on their hands and knees making stupid noises to get the chickens in the coop…..and would they go? Not a bit of it!

I laughed myself senseless…………in fact, I fell off the window sill –  it was so funny! I did think of suggesting a miner’s  lamp on their heads….but decided against it! (Discretion being the better part of valour and all that…..)

Hello from Gallery Cats and Hens!

Introducing Maddy, Clary, Pepper and Spice. (One black cat, two Speckledy hens and a Goldline).

This is their blog and the antics they get up to living with an artist, generally getting underfoot and raiding the strawberry patch whenever the opportunity arises! (The hens, that is; Maddy tends to prefer the herb garden for basking in the sunshine).

My Goldline

Out for a mooch!
